Review by Pam Marr Rybinski
This book is a true story about the author, an attorney; his wife, an attorney; their adopted twin sons; and a disfigured, but trusting, pit bull-like puppy, believed to have been “bait” for fighting dogs. It is a story of trust, love, and devotion. Because of their close attachment to Oogy, soon referred to as their “third twin,” the Levin family realizes that their love for each other is what makes them a family, not their genetic make-up. Readers learn more than they may want to know about dog fighting, and perhaps less than they should know about teaching a dog good manners. Larry Levin is a talented writer with a valuable story to tell. What he is not, is another Cesar Millan.
