Warning! If you decide to read this well-written book, be prepared to read past your comfort point. Of the two people I loaned my copy to, two gave it back uncompleted. One I’m still encouraging to try again; the other did try again, and kept it an extra week to read it cover-to-cover a second full time. Stein’s novel has won repeated acclaim, including a Publisher Weekly Listen Up! Award Winner for Fiction, and it was “An Amazon Customer Favorite.”
There is a dog named Enzo in the story. He lives with a man named Denny, an auto racing enthusiast. Enzo narrates, one factor that helps make “THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN” distinctive.
Leafing through my copy to write this review, I’ve become intrigued, again. I too must read it cover-to-cover a second time. The key sentence from the book that I’ve been quoting for months now has made a personal difference for me. The book may impact your life too . . . if you read it all the way through.
