“Pick a Pup” is a dog-fully illustrated easy-reader book with a logical story line. Gram gives Sam a box of goodies: a stuffed dog, dog training books, a leash, and a collar. Sam jumps for joy at the thought of getting his very own puppy. He also wonders how he will ever be able to pick his puppy out of all the different puppies that live at the local animal shelter. If you have a new reader in your circle of friends, consider asking that youngster to help you figure out what will happen after Gram and Sam walk to the animal shelter. It may be a surprise to both of you.
